ABOUT KARL

WHO ARE YOU? WHAT’S YOUR WORKING EXPERIENCE?

In short, I’m a non-profit professional, an experienced public servant, and a proud alumnus of the Clark County School District (CCSD). My mother is currently a teacher, and I’m committed to ensuring my children attend CCSD schools as we work to improve the district. Together, we can improve our school district.

My background stems from working in local, state, and federal government. I strongly believe that by supporting our families and youth, we can build stronger, safer communities all across Southern Nevada.

I serve as a Board Member for the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum, where I focus on meeting the needs of families throughout the Las Vegas Valley. I also oversee Vegas Vista Academy, a new school dedicated to underserved families in Las Vegas. As a Trustee, I ensure a balanced budget, efficient operations, and strong community programming. Additionally, I chair the Nevada Commission on Mentoring, a volunteer position that enables me to oversee a grants program supporting mentoring initiatives across the state.

I believe public service is fundamentally about serving taxpayers and making systems more accessible for community members. Throughout my public service experience, I’ve supported veterans, military families, police officers, and senior citizens, while helping Henderson residents navigate resources and government programs with ease.

HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW CCSD AND LAS VEGAS?

I was born and raised here, and I know every corner of this town intimately. I’m deeply familiar with the history of the place I proudly call home.

I graduated from Valley High School’s International Baccalaureate magnet program and continued my education locally. Since graduating, I’ve closely followed CCSD’s successes, progress, and the challenges it faces.

As a Henderson resident, I recognize the vital role of parent-teacher collaboration, which I see reflected in our community. I believe CCSD can make significant improvements by fostering stronger engagement from families, and this requires committed leaders focused on driving meaningful change.

WHAT SETS YOU APART AND WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS?

Working in government changes your perspective. You gain insight into how collaboration with federal agencies and local departments can lead to life-changing outcomes for many. For instance, during my time in the U.S. Congress, I handled numerous cases involving the U.S. Postal Service, addressing issues like mail theft, repairing mailboxes, and upgrading federal post offices in Henderson.

This work had a significant impact on those relying on timely mail delivery. Similarly, my experience with veteran casework showed me the profound difference I could make by helping veterans secure the benefits they deserve.

Knowing I played a part in improving their lives gave me joy that I am serving my community and the people who fought for our country.

My legislative experience will also be invaluable as a school board member. Achieving results requires securing a majority vote, and during my time in the Nevada Legislature, I successfully influenced lawmakers on bills that affected thousands of people.

What distinguishes me is my experience. I believe the school board needs strong leadership from day one, and I am prepared to step in and contribute with the skills I’ve acquired.

WHO ARE YOU OUTSIDE OF THE CAMPAIGN?

Beyond the campaign, I truly enjoy exploring all the unique offerings of our city. You can find me savoring coffee at Dam Roast House in Boulder City or shopping at Town Square with my mom on the weekends.

I’m passionate about mentorship and providing professional development and internship opportunities for high school juniors and seniors, and I currently volunteer to support youth programs in our community, including my time at the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum. Outside of the campaign, volunteering and doing community service really fills my time.

I also have a lively husky who keeps me on my toes!

I WANT TO TALK TO YOU. HOW CAN I REACH YOU?

I’d love to hear from you. I aim to be extremely accessible and want to make sure my neighbors know where I stand on issues that impact them and our neighborhoods. Just email me at KarlForNevada@gmail.com. I’ll get back to you in 24-48 hours if I’m not busy working or out talking to voters.
